Tips For Building A Home Gym

It’s that time of year when making the effort to get outside for a jog after work, or popping out to the gym in the evenings, is becoming more difficult. It’s darker, colder, and wetter, and just much more tempting to stay at home in the warmth and comfort. However, imagine if you had your very own gym at the bottom of the garden…

Imagine if you could maintain your ideal level of weight, strength, and fitness all year round, without having to slog through dark and inhospitable conditions. It’s possible to achieve your dream by building a log cabin in the UK, specifically in your own back garden. This will give you the freedom to exercise whenever you want, and to whatever music you want!

Log Cabin On A Budget

First up, decide what the main purpose of the space will be—to do cardio, weights, yoga or dance? This will affect the layout and specs of your cabin. Heavy equipment such as weights or treadmills may need reinforced flooring, for example. In some cases, the equipment may need extra height clearance.

The cabin may require patio doors or double doors to allow you to move equipment in and out without taking it apart. Ventilation is also important, as you will need a good airflow to avoid unhealthy humid conditions building up. A good level of insulation in the windows, roof, ceiling, and flooring, will allow the cabin to remain warm in winter and cool in summer.

Electricity is a must-have for lighting and to run any machines, and to provide music or exercise videos. Additional extras which are nice to have include a shower and sauna, and a fridge for cold refreshing drinks. These features can all be included in your very own gym and fitness spa to help you maintain a regular exercise and chill out routine!
